We`re delighted to welcome Clare Novaes School of Ballet, all the way from the North of Ireland to Co. Laois!
The Clare Novaes School of Ballet aims to encourage creativity, fundamental movement skills, development of coordination, body alignment and confidence. This dance company is a new venture for the school and this will be their first time performing as an ensemble. Led by Rebecca Runchman, the dancers explore topics that are important to them through their own creative contemporary ballet inspired movement.
‘We Saw the Homing Birds at Dusk’ explores the connections between the young people and the planet they want to protect. Drawing inspiration from the natural, instinctive journey of homing birds, they drive to return to their roots and to nurture the environment. The dancers embody migratory birds, using their internal compass to follow their natural pathways home. They come back to nature whilst exploring their connections to each other and their disconnections from the Earth due to technology.

Laois Dance Platform 2024 welcomes Laois Dance Academy!
@laoisacademy is a dance school, based in Portlaoise, offering an innovative way to enjoy and experience dance. The school believes in the power of human creativity and the discipline of movement education.
The academy goal is to allow their pupils to explore dance in a setting that is open to individual creative expression.
We are thrilled to welcome the talented youth creators to the Laois Dance Platform! With their fresh perspectives and boundless creativity, they are sure to bring a unique energy to the stage.

Laois Dance Platform is a Youth Dance festival hosted by Laois Youth Dance Ensemble, funded by Arts Council Ireland, supported by Dunamaise Arts Centre and Laois Arts Office. The event showcases an array of talented young dancers across Ireland alongside dance professionals, establishing a dance community and facilitating a network of artists.
Laois Youth Dance Ensemble is a youth contemporary dance company based in Co. Laois. The company gives young people the opportunity to receive quality dance training, to create and produce contemporary dance works to a high standard of performance.
